So Justin sent me this video yesterday, and I've been kind of obsessed with it. Ever since we started on this church planting path (and you should got check out the Legend blogs - Justin did some amazing video work last week that's up there), I've been thinking a lot about Christianity and what it means and how our culture perceives both Jesus and the Church and the Church's message and how its perceived. And in the best possible way that this can be true, I find myself paralyzed at times by the message of gospel, not because I'm ashamed of it, but because I'm afraid that if I am a bad witness to it, that I'm just going to add to the general distaste that I feel a lot of people have towards the church anyway. I have enough guilt - well-deserved - in my life without adding to it.
So anyway, this video highlights just how important a graceful and sincere person can be. The person in the video is Penn from Penn and Teller. He's not shy about his thoughts on religion (see The bible is bullshit as exhibit A), which actually makes the following video all the more meaningful, I think. I'll let it speak the rest of it for itself, but it's really wrapping its hands around the way I think. I hope this is how people think about me, especially as it relates to my faith.

Great clip. I have the same fears and share the same hope. What do you do with it? How do you act on the hope? How do you defeat the fears?
